Content Review and Correction Policy

This policy explains how content on this website is kept current and how errors are corrected. It complements the Editorial Policy.

Review schedule

• Substantive medical pages are reviewed at least annually by Marc H. Shomer, MD, PhD, QME.
• Pages describing regulatory or procedural frameworks — including QME, AME, IME, apportionment, and impairment-rating content — are reviewed when the applicable rules or guidance change materially, and at least annually.
• Credential and biographical pages are reviewed whenever a credential, appointment, license, or affiliation changes.
• Blog articles display their publication date and are reviewed when the underlying medical or regulatory basis changes materially.

Each substantive page displays its publication date and last substantive review date so readers can judge currency for themselves. A review date is updated only when the content has in fact been reviewed.

What triggers an out-of-cycle revision

• A material change in accepted ophthalmic understanding or professional guidance
• A change in the statutory or regulatory framework described on a page
• A change in Dr. Shomer's credentials, licensure, appointments, or availability
• A reported error, ambiguity, or omission

Reporting an error

Corrections are welcome from any reader, including physicians and attorneys who disagree with a characterization. To report an error, telephone the office at 909-981-9800 or write to 1298 W. 7th Street, Upland, California 91786. Please identify the page and the specific statement at issue.

How corrections are handled

1. The report is reviewed against the underlying sources and clinical understanding.
2. Factual errors are corrected promptly.
3. Where a statement was accurate but unclear or incomplete, it is revised for clarity.
4. Where a reported concern reflects a legitimate difference of professional opinion rather than an error, the page is revised to acknowledge the range of views rather than to assert one position as settled.
5. The page's last substantive review date is updated when the revision is made.

Material corrections

Where a correction materially changes the substance of previously published guidance, a dated note is added to the page identifying what changed, rather than silently replacing the text.

Draft content

Pages that do not yet have sufficient approved content are marked as drafts, excluded from the XML sitemap, and marked for search engines not to index them until completed.
